Why Americans are projected to invest $12 billion in Halloween for 2023

Halloween trend in the US has shown a remarkable evolution in recent years, with the holiday’s popularity surging and transforming it from a one-night celebration into a season of creativity, community, and commerce.

According to NRF data, Americans, on average, allocate $108 per person for a combination of costumes, candy, home decorations, and party supplies. In contrast, only half of Canadians expect to spend more than C$50 this year. For many, Halloween extends beyond a mere evening of trick-or-treating or attending costume parties — it becomes a season of festivities for both adults and children.

Retailers capitalize on its popularity, employing various strategies each season to boost spending on candy, pumpkins, and a wide range of merchandise.

Home decorations have also seen a significant transformation. It’s no longer sufficient to have a few pumpkins and a cardboard skeleton on the porch.
