In September 2021, another Dachshund named Cheesecake made headlines when she delivered a litter of 10 puppies. However, Winnie’s astounding achievement surpasses that number. Her owner believes it might even be a world record, although it’s important to note that Guinness World Records does not maintain records specific to individual dog breeds.
“She’s an incredible mother. I’m overwhelmed by the possibility that she may have achieved a world record with the number of puppies she had. When I searched online, I couldn’t believe it.”
A scan conducted at 35 days into Winnie’s nine-week pregnancy revealed the presence of six puppies in her belly.
This extraordinary canine gave birth to her first puppy at 11:30 pm, and I stayed up with her throughout the night. The second one arrived at 1:30 am, followed by four more, each just 20 minutes apart. Numbers seven, eight, and nine then arrived within seven minutes of each other, followed by a 40-minute gap until number 10.
I decided to go to bed at 6:30 am, thinking that Winnie had completed her delivery. However, when I checked on her four hours later, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
I said, “I thought 10 puppies were incredible. She had stopped panting and was resting, feeding them. I genuinely believed she had finished. But when I returned, I counted them, and there were 11.”
